ALONG THE ROAD Robert Browning Hamilton

I walked a mile with Pleasure;

She chattered all the way,

But left me none the wiser

For all she had to say

I walked a mile with Sorrow

And ne'er a word said she;

But oh, the things I learned from her

When Sorrow walked with me!

A POEM JUST FOR ME Roger McGough

Where am I now when I need me

Suddenly where have I gone?

I'm so alone here without me

Tell me please what have I done?

Once I did most things together

I went for walks hand in hand

I shared my life so completely

I met my every demand.

Tell me I'll come back tomorrow

I'll keep my arms open wide

Tell me that I'll never leave me

My place is here at my side.

Maybe I've simply mislaid me

Like an umbrella or a key

So until the day that I come my way

Here is a poem just for me.

THE STREET Portia Nelson

I walk down the street,

There's a deep hole in the pavement,

I fall in.

I am lost ....... I am hopeless.

It isn't my fault,

It takes forever to find a way out.

I walk down the same street,

There is a deep hole in the pavement,

I pretend I don't see it,

I fall in again.

I can't believe I am in the same place.

But it isn't my fault,

It still takes a long time to get out.

I walk down the same street,

There is a deep hole in the pavement,

I see it is there.

I still fall in ..... it's a habit.

My eyes are open,

I know where I am.

It is my fault.

I get out immediately.

I walk down the same street,

There is a deep hole in the pavement,

I walk round it.

I walk down another street.
